On 18th March we welcomed athletes from the North West and Pontefract to compete in a Regional Special Olympics New Age Kurling event at Southport College Sports Hall. Although the snow prevented some athletes from travelling to Southport, those who were there enjoyed the competition and everyone went home with at least one medal. [...]
Last Sunday we hosted a North West Region Special Olympics boccia event at Southport College Sports Hall. The athletes had a great time and most will now go on to represent the North West at the National Special Olympics Summer Games which will be held in Sheffield in August.
Three of our footballers took part in a Special Olympics Regional 7 a side football event today. Together with athletes from Widnes and Ellesmere Port they have been selected to represent the North West at the National Summer Games in August.
Dan competed in the West Midlands Special Olympics table tennis event in Ruthin and won a bronze medal in a close-run competition in Division 2. Another medal to add to his growing collection.
Mark is really chuffed to win a gold and silver medal for England. He was competing at the 4 Nations Para Badminton event in Glasgow at the weekend.
Ten of our athletes travelled to Featherstone Sports Centre last October to compete in a regional New Age kurling competition. Between them they won 4 gold medals, 3 silver, 1 bronze, 1 4th place and 1 5th place.
